Five panels to catch at L.A. Comic Con 2021

L.A. Comic Con will make its in-person return this weekend, and pop culture fans from Los Angeles (and beyond) can’t wait to traverse through the Los Angeles Convention Center again. With its return, L.A. Comic Con will have a slew of amazing panels throughout the three-day convention. We look at five panels going down that are worth checking out. Tickets for L.A. Laugh Factory Takes Over the Main Stage

Main Stage @ 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.

If you're looking for a laugh, the Laugh Factory has you covered with a lineup of comedians on the main stage. Tehran, Trevor Wallace, Max Amini, Jennifer Sterger, Lou Lou Gonzalez, Adam Ray, and Jade Catta Preta will deliver jokes during this two-and-a-half-hour event.

Sync Heroes: Behind Music of Top Comic Film/TV

Room 403B @ 3:30 p.m. - 4:50 p.m.

Having the right music for a TV/film scene isn't always easy. A handful of music supervisors and composers will join forces to discuss how they managed to bring memorable music to comic book films. Composers Stephanie Economou (Jupiter's Legacy, Marvel 616) and Lolita Ritmanis & Kristopher Carter (The Killing Joke, Batman: The Animated Series, Avengers Assemble) will join music producer DJ Cheapshot (Wandavision, Shang Chi, Lego Batman) and music supervisors Gary Calamar (Titans, Cobra Kai, Man In The High Castle), Jonathan McHugh (Saw 1-5, Blade, Cosplay Universe), and Garrett McElver (The Tick, Seal Team) will be on hand. The panel will be moderated by Hunter George, who is the executive director of the Guild of Music Supervisors.

G4TV Attack of the Show Documentary Preview

Room 404AB @ 5 p.m. - 5:50 p.m.

With G4's return, many people are reminiscing about the channel's old days. One show that gets brought up in any conversation about G4 is the pop culture show Attack of the Show. Film Threat founder Chris Gore, who appeared on Attack of the Show, has been working on a documentary about the show, and they'll be showing a special preview of the effort at the convention.

X-Men: The Art and Making of an Animated Series

The '90s X-Men cartoon will forever go down as one of the best animated series ever made. Writers Eric and Julia Lewald, director Larry Houston, animator Mark Lewis, and editor Eric Klopfer will be on hand to promote the book X-Men: The Art and Making of an Animated Series. The Lewalds and Houston will be consultants on the forthcoming X-Men '97 series, which will arrive on Disney+ in 2023.

Multi-Grammy and Emmy Award Winner Malik Yusef presents “Sympathy for the Devil”

Room: 406AB @ 3 p.m. - 3:50 p.m.

Sometimes the bad guy can truly be the hero of the story. Grammy-winning spoken word artist/producer Malik Yusef will break down how some villains are heroes to someone. The artist will also give attendees a look at their comic line Supreme Comics.
