Kaia Kater collaborates with Allison Russell for “In Montreal”
Americana artist Kaia Kater has unveiled another single from their forthcoming album Strange Medicine today.
The track “In Montreal” finds the artist teaming up with Allison Russell, who recently won a Grammy for Best American Roots Performance. Kater said this about the song:
“I’ve left and returned so many times that it now feels like ghosts of my former selves haunt the city. During the deep winter of 2021 with its short days and long nights, I wanted to write an upbeat song about a poet feeling lost and aimless, tectonic plates stacked in their sink—a nod to Leonard Cohen, Kate and Anna McGarrigle, and all the other incredible songwriters of Montreal.”
Pre-orders for Strange Medicine can be made here. The 10-track album will be released on May 17 on Free Dirt Records.
Kater will be touring across North America with performances alongside Molly Tuttle and New Dangerfield. Tour dates can be seen below. Tickets are on sale to the general public right now here.
