Five panels to catch at PAX West 2022

PAX West arrives this weekend, and thousands of gamers will flock to the Seattle Convention Center in Seattle to get an early look at forthcoming games. Aside from checking out new games, many people enjoy attending great panels. These five panels taking place during PAX West are certainly worth checking out.

Friday, September 2
Drag Queens, Kings & Things!
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Horse Theatre (Grand Hyatt, Level 1)

Members of online drag troupe Team Stream Queens will join forces to talk about being part of one of Twitch's most delightful stream teams out there. The panel will include members Chelora, Hot Pink Shade, Arson Nicki, Aphasia Speaks, Kiyoshi YoRHa, and Prince Harming.

Reggie Fils-Aimé and Rogue Games Talk About What They Look for in Indie Games

If you're looking to get into making indie games, this is a must-see panel. Former Nintendo President & COO Reggie Fils-Aimé will team up with Rogue Games CEO Matt Casamassina, Rogue Games CSO Chris Archer, Plot Twist creative director BartÅ‚omiej Lesiakowski, Oh My Me Games founder/CEO Tyler Maitland, and Maeth, Inc.'s Carlos Lizarraga will discuss what can make an indie game stand out in today's market.

Making Doki Doki Literature Club

Released in 2017, Doki Doki Literature Club became a surprise indie hit with its memorable cast of characters and surprising plot. Years after its initial release, an updated version titled Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! dropped with a slew of extra content. Game designer Dan Salvato will discuss the development process of the game. Fans will be able to ask questions at the end of the panel.

Bloody Roar 2: How We Redubbed a PS1 Game

During lockdown, voice actor Casey Mongillo wanted to give Bloody Roar 2 an English dub. With the help of some well-known voice actors, the English dub became a reality when a patch was unveiled in 2021. Kira Buckland, who lent their voice to Uriko the Half-Beast, will join Mongillo and others to discuss how they managed to get this whole thing together. There will also be giveaways for those in attendance.

Released in 1999 on the PlayStation, Bloody Roar 2 introduced Beast Drives, which offers a special attack with cutscenes.

Crafting Contracts for Music in Games

Being a game composer is more than just making great music for video games. The legal side of things helps make sure composers get paid properly and secure the proper rights. Composer Trevor Black and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz's Saphya Council and Emma Smizer will discuss what goes into a typical contract for music composers in the gaming world.
