Brooklyn electronic act Amiture announce new album 'Mother Engine,' release "Billy's Dream" single
Brooklyn electronic act Amiture will deliver their new studio album next year.
Announced today, Mother Engine is slated for a February 9 release on Dots Per Inch Music. To celebrate the announcement, the act delivered a new single titled "Billy's Dream.” Jack Whitescarver said this about the new song:
"It’s a distilled example of our process of recording, finding 1-4 second moments, and reconfiguring them like a collage. The way we wrote Billy's Dream had as much to do with listening as playing. We sampled this break that Matt Norman (Lily & Horn Horse) drummed off the cuff and sang this rhyme scheme over it. Coco basically made it what it is by infusing guitar textures into it - building a really complex field of sound. Lyrically, it’s a story we all know: a man wants to destroy everything he has, he can’t control himself and he doesn’t know why."
An accompanying music video for “Billy’s Dream,” which can be seen below, was directed by Cyrus Duff (May Rio, Remi Lewis). The director said this about working on the visual:
"The idea is that everyone here was involved in the past in something intense and illicit, not necessarily in the sense that they’re friends, but they’ve shared something together that isolates them from other people. This sense of closeness in the bar (called "the Safehouse") anchors the video, and we see all the characters both inside and standing outside the front door, where they are observed by a mysterious pair of detectives. Cut in with this Safehouse footage, we see images of everyone in their “private lives,” in private rooms, doing what they do when they’re alone."
Pre-orders for Mother Engine can be made here. The 12-track album also includes the previously released single “Glory.”
On Tuesday, November 14th at Mansions (46-63 Metropolitan Ave, Queens, NY) from 8 p.m. - 2 a.m., Amiture and Dots Per Inch Music will throw a party to celebrate the album’s forthcoming release. The party will include videos and DJ sets from Gillian Asuncion, Lazar Bozic, Cyrus Duff, Spiral Eddie, Coco Goupil, Izzy Leung, Takuya Saito, Owen Smith-Clark, Larry Termite, JZ Tinneny, Ben Turok, and Jack Whitescarver.
