Boyfriend Dungeon, which was one of our favorite games of 2021, will gain a free expansion this summer.

Announced yesterday at GLITCH’s Future of Play Direct, the free update titled Boyfriend Dungeon: Secret Weapons will offer a new dungeon, new weapons (Jonah the Axe and Leah the Hammer), new music from Marskye featuring vocalist Madeleine McQueen, and a villainous new weapon to date named Dr. Holmes the Whip, who will be voiced by content creator Kathleen ‘Loserfruit’ Belsten. The new character was developed by former Ghostwire: Tokyo director Ikumi Nakamura, who said this about creating the character:

“Designing Dr. Holmes was an exciting job for me. The character was created through conversations with Tanya [Kitfox Captain and Lead Designer] and the team, and several ideas were developed and vetted. It was an honor to be involved in a game with such a diverse worldview as Boyfriend Dungeon. I was able to communicate with Tanya, the director, and understand the concept behind the Boyfriend Dungeon. It is truly an honor to be involved in indie development like this, and it is often exciting and educational to work and talk with the creators. We hope you all enjoy the new downloadable content.”

Boyfriend Dungeon is out on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PC right now.
