Anime filmmaker Makoto Shinkai to have pop-up installation event in Los Angeles
Announced today, Crunchyroll, in collaboration with CoMix Wave Film, STORY, inc, and TOHO Co., Ltd., will celebrate the career of anime filmmaker Makoto Shinkai with a special pop-up event in Los Angeles.
On Sunday, November 19, Makoto Shinkai: A Journey from “Voices of a Distant Star” through “Suzume” will take place at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures (6067 Wilshire Blvd). The event will feature screenings of Shinai’s films Your Name, Weathering with You, and Suzume at the Ted Mann Theater.
Aside from screenings, attendees will be able to see the beginnings of these films and other projects from Shinkai’s career with “initial proposals and early sketches to design, including storyboard, animation renderings, and final film materials.” Shinai is also slated to appear at the event, which will run from 11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
