On Friday, Alexander 23 revealed their new single “The Hardest Part.”

The track, which can be heard below, was co-produced by Alexander 23 and Dan Nigro (Olivia Rodrigo, Carly Rae Jepsen, Conan Gray) and co-written by the artist and Amy Allen (Harry Styles, Halsey, Selena Gomez). The artist said this about the new song:

“I didn’t want to put it out. It felt wrong to commoditize grief, especially as so much of it wasn’t my own. I began to slowly send it to close family and friends, and the response was overwhelming to say the least. It made me reevaluate the song’s potential place in the world because it reminded me of what I have turned to music for countless times before, to feel understood when words and actions weren’t enough.”

“The Hardest Part,” which is on digital services right now, stems from Alexander 23’s forthcoming studio album, which will be released on Interscope Records. Alexander 23 will tour the U.K. and Ireland with Tate McRae next month followed by festival appearances at Lollapalooza and Firefly Music Festival. Tour dates can be seen below.
