‘90s platformer Aero the Acro-Bat will make its return this summer on modern consoles.

Announced today, the game will be re-released via indie publisher Ratalaika Games on August 2 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. This re-release will feature the ability to switch between the English and Japanese versions, a rewind feature, a save state function, screen filters, cheats, and an image gallery. A synopsis for the game reads:

It’s up to Aero the Acro-Bat, the circus’s star performer, to rescue his friends and girlfriend Ariel, and put a stop to Edgar Ektor’s mad plans so everyone can enjoy the show again!

The powerful and eccentric industrialist Edgar Ektor has sworn to destroy the world of amusement as revenge for being banished from the circus when he was a kid after one of his pranks went too far and almost killed a circus animal. He started by invading a local circus with his gang of mad clowns and kidnapping all the circus staff to spoil the show.

Aero the Acro-Bat was originally released in 1993 on the SNES and Sega Genesis. A sequel (Aero the Acro-Bat 2) and a spinoff title (Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel) were both released in 1994.
